EMDR

What’s EMDR?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a unique type of therapy that helps you heal from hard or overwhelming experiences—especially trauma. It doesn’t require you to talk in detail about everything that happened. Instead, it helps your brain process stuck memories so they feel less intense and don’t take over your present. It’s kind of like helping your mind finally file things away where they belong, so you can move forward with more ease.

We use guided eye movements (or other forms of bilateral stimulation - like pulsers that buzz back and forth) to help your brain “reprocess” memories so they don’t feel as overwhelming or trigger strong emotions.

Let’s do EMDR outside

That’s right… Bilateral movements can be done by walking or hiking. We can meet on a trail and do trauma processing there.

Trauma processing can be hard. Being outside in the fresh air helps you stay grounded.

When we meet for the initial intake, you will get more details on what this looks like regarding confidentiality in public.
